Last month, artists and music startups talked about the future of music. Now it’s your turn to build it.

Drexel University‘s ExCITe Center is holding Philly’s first music hackathon. It’s a national event that’s been in 12 cities so far.

RSVP for the May 18-19 event here.

Philly jazz and funk group the Dirk Quinn Band will perform on Saturday. Sponsors include big names in the music startup world like Rdio, Soundcloud and Spotify.

Who’s the hackathon for? ExCITe Center director Youngmoo Kim said he’s hoping to see:

  • Web, mobile and desktop app developers
  • Hardware hackers and circuit benders
  • Chiptuners and 8-bit musicians
  • Musicians
  • Students
  • Anyone who likes music
