What can you create with one tool? A 3D printer or a MacBook Pro or maybe an Arduino microcontroller?
Inspired by its exhibit “The Tool at Hand” where artists were challenged to create a work of art with only one tool, The Philadelphia Art Alliance is inviting the public to do the same as part of its “Left to Your One Device” contest.
Submit a video of your work of art by April 11th.
The Art Alliance is encouraging makers of all kinds to submit, said Art Alliance staffer Mat Tomezsko. The organization is not only looking for traditional visual art and artists. For example, one artist is “using a 3D printer in order to comment on the similarities and differences between traditional hand-made prints and contemporary high-tech computer aided production,” Tomezsko said.
Winners will get “supplies and hands-on experiences” at various maker studios around the city and will also have their video featured on the Art Alliance website. Read more about the contest here.
