Hey, teenage bloggers need a conference too. And they might need to bring their parents.

The organizers of the Digital Family Summit say: no problem. Billed as a weekend-long conference for tiny tech entrepreneurs, the Digital Family Summit aims to please the whole family, starting next Friday in Old City.

There’s sessions on online safety and security for wary parents, workshops for kids to hone their video and blogging skills and panels with teen entrepreneurs on the rise, like Nick Normile, who made his name with his blog “Foodie at Fifteen” and now interns at venture capital firm Artists & Instigators.

The conference features high-profile speakers like former White House Chief Information Officer Theresa Payton and Dave Carroll, the “United Breaks Guitars” guy.

Organizers Jennie Baird and husband and wife pair Adam Gertsacov and Stephanie Schwab are from Connecticut and New York, respectively. So we asked: Why Philly?

Schwab, who runs social media marketing agency Crackerjack Marketing, told us Philly was the perfect place because of its accessibility (“drivable from up and down the East Coast,” she said) and its budding tech scene. She also says her family took a trip to Philly two years ago and found our city to be “perfect for families.”

Schwab says she expects about 400 to 450 conference attendees and about 120 of those will be teens or “tweens.”

The conference will be at the Sheraton Society Hill from June 29-July 1. Tickets run $200/individual or $400/family. Use the code PHILLY to get 30 percent off full price.
