NYC Media Lab promotes Amy Chen to run the lab’s Combine accelerator.

Chen had been the manager of partnerships for the Downtown Brooklyn–based media hub. She will now run the Combine, which is the lab’s early stage media accelerator. Chen graduated from Barnard College and has an MBA from NYU Stern.

Daniel Sieberg heads to Civil to head its journalism operations.

Sieberg heads to the East Williamsburg blockchain for journalism startup after six years at Google as head of training and development. Before that he worked as a tech correspondent in television for CNN, the BBC and CBS. Civil just announced a $2.5 million raise with a token offering on the horizon.

Common hires Shaina Li as director of real estate acquisitions.

The Brooklyn-born coliving startup now has 14 homes in four cities with plenty more on the way. Li is a Princeton graduate and has worked in real estate acquisitions and analysis for the last five years, most recently out on the West Coast with Hines.

Cornell Tech brings in Denise Young Smith as an executive-in-residence.

Smith has spent the last 20 years at Apple, where she’s served most recently as a vice president for worldwide talent and human resources. She’ll be moving from Cupertino to Cornell Tech’s brand new, sparkling 2-million-square-foot campus on Roosevelt Island that opened this fall.
