New York’s leading startup organization released an open letter Wednesday laying out the case to make New York City the site of Amazon’s HQ2.
More than 50 of New York’s tech leaders signed Tech:NYC’s letter, including Brooklynites Charlie O’Donnell, of Brooklyn Bridge Ventures, and Ro Gupta of CARMERA.
The letter included some key points (we’ve cherrypicked our faves) that New York has:
- A front row seat to innovation, with more than 6,000 startups based here.
- A bustling tech industry that is now the city’s fastest-growing sector, with more than
7,000 tech firms employing close to 300,000 workers. - 24 million square feet of new office space coming to market during the next five years.
- A significant commitment to teach computer science to all 1.1 million students in its school system by 2025.
