Soar over Brooklyn in this beautiful new video

It's easy to forget we're at the edge of basically a barrier island in the Atlantic Ocean, just feet above sea level.

New drone footage showing the terrain of Brooklyn and the glass-glinting skyline of Manhattan gives a good view of the built environment of our Kings County tech world.

Shot by Area of Effect cofounder Bruno Kruse on a $1,000 Mavic Pro drone, the video soars to heights above the towers in Brooklyn, offering a reminder that all of these buildings and streets and networks exist in a specific geography.

Area of Effect is a New Lab–based “product design and development team specializing in connected devices, robotics and information design,” according to its website. New Lab is the manufacturing and design hub located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard that opened last September.

Correction: The video was shot by Area of Effect cofounder Bruno Kruse, not an employee of 10xBETA, as was originally reported. (7/25/17, 10:18 a.m.)
