Philanthropy is one way the tech community can pay it forward. Two nonprofit organizations in our scene are hosting inexpensive fall fundraisers that should make for decent nights out for Brooklyn technologists who also want to support local causes.

Brooklyn On Tech is a brand-new organization (we wrote about them here) dedicated to getting local youth ready for tech jobs. For a mere $15 you can have dinner for the evening and help the STEM pipeline stay strong, all in Dumbo (at Etsy Labs).
Heritage Radio Network is partnering with Brooklyn Winery for “The Big Crush” Oct. 16. The network is attempting to be the ESPN of food, as we reported last month, focusing on local food and sustainability. It’s an online radio station that’s increasing Brooklyn’s footprint in the podcastosphere (sure).
It sounds like the price of the ticket at this one is more about covering the cost of the event. To really help Heritage Radio Network, snag some raffle tickets once you get there.
