Greenpoint’s Magnetic Kitchen is a design firm in Brooklyn that uses lasers to cut and etch products. They are using Kickstarter to fund their second round of laser engraved skate decks.
These boards do have a really interesting look. The wood itself is, in a way, also the ink. It gives the boards a more naturalistic look, and yet it has that funkiness that skaters demand.
Pledge $70 to get a laser etched skate deckWe like this campaign because new technologies usually do get used first for something commonplace. LEDs were on watch faces long before they were on the Times Square New Year’s Eve ball. Epaper showed up on books long before it started labelling supermarket aisles.
The team has one week to go on their campaign and about $1500 left to raise.
