Robotics program JumpStart NAO is the newest resource on hand to complement STEM education at John Ericsson Middle School in Williamsburg.
The JumpStart NAO, from New York State edtech company Teq, is aimed at being an affordable, playful classroom-focused android that can learn like children can, if slower. It can be taught choreography, recognize faces and communicate by speech. The thing can even trip and fall and protect itself as it goes.
Ericsson is the first school in the city with NAO. It acquired two of them, and a professional development program on teaching educators how to use the robots in the classroom, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
