Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, which is offering its first blockchain course this spring, is hosting the third annual DC Blockchain Summit along with the Chamber of Digital Commerce.
During the event on March 6-7, devs can team up during a 24-hour hackathon. Organizers of the Discover Blockchain Technology Code-a-Thon are encouraging solutions focusing on payments, RegTech and creating tamper-proof digital identities for consumers and businesses.

“Discover is always looking at ways to improve the payments experience for customers and merchants and we are excited to explore how blockchain may be able to contribute to our mission,” Bill Dulin, vice president of Global Business Development for Discover, said in a statement. “We look forward to co-hosting the code-a-thon and working with the Chamber and its members on the policy issues impacting the commercial payments and blockchain sectors.”
Awards will be presented during the Blockchain Summit. Fittingly, winnings will be paid in cryptocurrency.
The keynote at the code-a-thon includes a talk from QTUM Lead Developer Jordan Earls.
