General Assembly is expanding big time

General Assembly, the global tech skills education provider with a campus on 15th Street, announced on Wednesday that the company is growing. Specifically, GA aims to up its number of physical campuses from 15 to 25 by the end of the year.
The focus on “new, high demand markets” means the DMV will be seeing another GA campus of its own — set to be located in Arlington, Va. The campus will be hosted out of Eastern Foundry’s new Rosslyn location, with classes taking place in the evenings and on Saturdays so that they are accessible to Eastern Foundry members. “We are thrilled to have an esteemed organization such as General Assembly at our Rosslyn campus,” Andrew Chang, managing partner of Eastern Foundry, said in a statement. “With their addition, Eastern Foundry has truly become a center for technological growth.”
According to a press release, classes will start in September.
Other new GA campuses include one in Brooklyn, another in Dallas and an expansion to the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia.

“We are seeing incredible demand among employers — outside of the traditional urban hotspots more commonly associated with the tech sector — as they struggle to fill jobs that require 21st century skills like web development, data science and UX design,” Jake Schwartz, cofounder and CEO of General Assembly, said in a statement. GA, of course, wants to meet that major demand.
The company also took the opportunity to announce that it entering a new international market, Canada, with the help of its recent acquisition of Toronto-based “tech skills accelerator” Bitmaker. This acquisition is GA’s first, as Schwartz announced in a post on the company blog. “As a bonus upside, we now also have the option of moving to Canada if Trump wins the U.S. election,” he joked.
