WeddingWire acquired GayWeddings.com.
GovLoop acquired TMGov, an Alexandria-based talent management network.
Earlier this month, MapQuest decided to start using Mapbox maps, and here’s why that makes sense. On the heels of the new partnership, Mapbox announced closing a $52.5 million round led by DFJ Growth, a San Francisco-based early-stage investment firm.
The Greater Washington Urban League launched on Tuesday its Entrepreneurship Center Program, focused on helping diverse small business owners grow their enterprise. The Washington Business Journal has the details.

WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?

Bethesda-based Aledade, a company that helps healthcare providers join forces to reduce Medicare costs, raised $30 million in a Series B round.
D.C.-based SnobSwap, an online consignment shop for designer clothes and accessories, has raised $267,000 out of a prospective $1.3 million round, according to an SEC filing.
Rockville-based OriGene Technologies, a genetic research company, has raised $17 million out of a prospective $32 million round, according to an SEC filing.
TRX Systems, a Greenbelt-based company that makes mapping technologies for law enforcement agencies, has raised $500,000, according to an SEC filing.

WHO’S CREATING BUZZ?

2U CEO Chip Paucek was the 15th highest ranked CEO among small and medium-sized companies, according to Glassdoor. “I share this award with every 2U employee because, together, we are building a successful company that is making an impact by proving online education can deliver outcomes for students that equal or surpass what is offered on campus,” he said in a release.
Allyson Kapin, the founder of D.C.-based Women Who Tech, was cited in a U.S. News and World Report story on the lack of diversity in Silicon Valley. “Until we dismantle that culture in the industry and at startups to make it feel more welcoming to women and people of color then nothing will change,” she told the publication.

The Northern Virginia Technology Council named the winners of the Greater Washington Technology CFO Award. They are SWaN & Legend Venture Partners, Lightbridge Communications Corporation’s Rebecca Stahl, 2U’s Cathy Graham and Hercules Technology Growth Capital’s April Young.
