Last month, the D.C.-based Women Who Tech teamed up with Craigslist’s Craig Newark to launch its first pitch competition: the Women Startup Challenge.
To compete, startups were instructed to set up a fundraising profile on Crowdrise. In the monthlong (April 29-May 29) race to out-raise their competitors, women-led startups jointly collected more than $365,681.
The top three fundraisers were:
- PeerSpring ($15,750)
- GeoHealth ($14,400)
- Actionplanr ($11,495)

Thirty startups have made it through to the next round. After reviewing their business models, a panel of judges will select ten to compete in a pitch competition for a $50,000 cash prize.
The final contest will be held at General Assembly on June 30.
