Industrial Bank, an institution billed by the Washington Post last year as the “last remaining African American-owned bank in the Washington area,” decided to celebrate its 80th anniversary in style.
It gave $80,000 in grants to small businesses in the D.C. area. The winners, declared Thursday, are:
- The Wealth Factory, a University of Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute member company that offers services like multiplayer fantasy games to improve users’ financial literacy ($20,000)
- ECORE Living ($15,000)
- Union Kitchen ($15,000)
- Advance Employee Intelligence ($15,000)
- Goodies Frozen Custard and Treats ($15,000)
“The entire team at Industrial Bank is proud to celebrate this year’s grant winners, five local companies that represent the best of DC Metro’s emerging small businesses,” B. Doyle Mitchell, Jr., president and CEO of Industrial Bank, said in a press release.
“The winners of this Industrial grant program represent some of the best and brightest of the region’s leading small businesses,” added Harry Wingo, the president of the DC Chamber of Commerce.
