Cybrary.it, the free cybersecurity MOOC program that launched last week in Greenbelt, has already enrolled more than 10,000 students, according to CEO Ralph Sita.
“We’re in over 151 countries,” he said giddily, though he added that he wasn’t surprised by the early success.
“People are just rallying behind the idea of liberating education,” he said. He hopes to reach between 600,000 and a million users within 12 months.
In 2001, Sita founded a more traditional IT training program called TrainACE — “a typical … brick-and-mortar facility where people come and take classes,” he said. “Over time, we discovered that a lot of people can’t afford to do training.”
The company will earn revenue through a combination of advertisements, sponsored whitepapers and other business-to-business products.
