Solenis, the global chemical manufacturing company that settled into a new 90,000-square-foot headquarters in Wilmington in early 2020, has been selected for the 2021 US Best Managed Companies list. The program honors private companies for their strategy, execution, culture and financials and is sponsored by Deloitte Private and The Wall Street Journal.

Forty-nine companies from across the U.S. representing 26 states were selected out of a pool of applicants of companies with a minimum revenue of $250 million. Qualified applicants go on to showcase their business achievements. Solenis was the only company in 2021 from Delaware to be selected.

Winners are given exclusive use of the US Best Managed Companies designation and logo, as well as networking and professional development opportunities.

Judges for 2021 were:

  • Lynn Clarke, chair, Nielsen-Massey Flavorings, and board member, ABARTA Coca-Cola Beverages, A. Duie Pyle Transportation & Logistics and Rogers Foam Corp.
  • Christina Van Tassell, CFO, Dow Jones
  • Don Yee, board director, Aerometals, Blue Diamond and Jake’s Finer Foods

“This prestigious recognition reflects our commitment to a long-term strategy that delivers true sustainability and measurable operational efficiency for our customers,” said Philip M. Patterson Jr., Solenis SVP and chief financial officer, in a statement. “We combine the right people, the right experience and the right technology within a framework that drives continuous improvement and recurring, sustainable value.”

Solenis’ specialty chemicals are used to help water-intensive companies manage their natural resources. Its notable achievements include over 2,000 patents, its ValueAdvantage Partner Program and participation in the global Piloting Alternatives for Plastics project. It also boasts an employee loyalty score of 8.7 out of 10 in the Solenis 2020 Annual Culture Survey and a framework in place to double the company’s workforce diversity by 2030. The company has 39 manufacturing facilities located around the globe and employs a team of approximately 5,200 professionals in 120 countries across five continents.

In Wilmington, the company is currently hiring for lab positions at its R&D facility, as well as sales and internship positions.
