Novelist Terry McMillan, best known for “Waiting to Exhale” and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” released the much-anticipated “It’s Not All Downhill From Here” in March 2020 and had to cancel her book tour due to COVID-19.
On Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m., she will appear — virtually — at the Wilmington Public Library for the special event “An Evening with Terry McMillan.”
“It’s Not All Downhill From Here” deals with the timely topics of personal tragedy and loss, as well as hope and healing, in a story focused on a Black woman in her 60s coping with major life changes alongside her circle of closest friends.
There are two ways to participate: You can stream the event via Facebook Live, or you can attend the viewing party at Milk & Honey Downtown (formerly LOMA Coffee). Registration is required and seating is limited for both.
The Wilmington Public Library will also be hosting social commentator, author and activist Dr. Cornell West on Oct. 30 and Hip Hop icon Rakim on Nov. 12. These events will be either hybrid, with the guest in person at the library with limited seating according to CDC guidelines, plus streaming — or all virtual, depending on Delaware’s COID-19 status at the time. For updates, follow Wilmington Public Library on Facebook.
