You might wanna use up those Recyclebank points before they’re all gone

Remember Recyclebank? You may still have points — but not for long.

As of Friday June 1, Wilmington residents no longer earn points from Recyclebank when their curbside recycling is picked up. It was the last tie residents had to the incentive program the city dropped last year. If you live in the Wilmington, your recycling service switched hands to the city’s Sanitation Division a while ago — if you didn’t notice, that’s because they aimed for a seamless transition.

Recyclebank offered some pretty sweet incentives for residents to recycle when the city adopted it in 2006, including free movie tickets to Theatre N and gift cards. They still have the points-for-rewards system, but they’re more along the lines of discounts rather than totally free stuff.

Still, if you haven’t kept up with your Recyclebank account, you could have quite a few points that will soon disappear — might as well use them while you can.

Here are a few things you can snag:

  • $5 off $40 or more at The Fresh Grocer (50 pts)
  • $5 off $50 at Target.com (50 pts)
  • $5 off $25 at Kid Sheleens, Walt’s Chicken Express, Gallucio’s, Washington Street Ale House or Movable Feast (50 pts each)
  • $5.50 for 2 games and shoe rental at First Sate Lanes (100 pts)
  • $10 off $75 at Al’s Sporting Goods (100 pts)
  • $10 off $100 at Fabrizio Salon and Spa (100 pts)
  • 10% off a ticket at Delaware Theatre Company (100 pts)
  • 10% off entire bill at Iron Hill Brewery (100 pts)
  • $5 off 2 lunch or dinner entrees at Timothy’s (100 pts)
  • Buy one get one free games at Pleasant Hill Lanes or AMF
  • $20 off $150 at Discount School Supply (100 pts)
  • Free Child with Adult admission to Brandywine Zoo
  • Buy one get one admission to Delaware Art Museum, Delaware Museum of Natural History or Delaware Historical Society (100 pts)
  • Magazine subscriptions (varies, 200+ points)
  • Or, if you have lots of points (2,500+), you can simply turn them into a donation to The Nature Conservatory so they don’t go to waste.

To turn in your points, click on “Get Rewards” on the Recyclebank website. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
