Open Data Delaware and UD’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship are hosting the first Open Data Challenge workshop for 2017, and it’s going down tonight. Good news? You can still attend, and it’s free.
The focus of the first workshop is “Design Thinking & Civic Tech.” As the Meetup page says, “the first stage of any good project, especially a civic tech project, is coming up with a great idea.” Open Data Delaware and Horn will explore the notion of coming up with an exciting idea that helps the community.
This is the first of six workshops, each coming between now and the National Day of Civic Hacking in early June. Here’s how the Meetup describes the Open Data Challenge and all the events involved.
The Open Data Challenge is a partnership with the State of Delaware’s Government Information Center and the Tech Forum of Delaware following the launch of Delaware’s Open Data Portal. The Open Data Challenge will help to build tangible, sustainable solutions for community issues using open data. The Challenge includes a series of 6 workshops curated by Open Data Delaware, the Tech Forum of Delaware’s Idea Challenge, and Open Data Delaware’s National Day of Civic Hacking Event. Winning teams from the National Day of Civic Hacking have the opportunity to win cash prizes following completion of their project.
The worskhop is tonight, February 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Horn Venture Development Center. You can RSVP to the event and find more information by hitting the button below.
