Yael Bloom left a mark on the University of Delaware with her startup Udwell, a website that connects students to a comprehensive list of rentable apartments and houses in Newark.
As a sophomore at UD, Bloom accidentally stumbled upon Hen Hatch, the university’s startup competition and entered her idea for Udwell. She placed second, and the company was born. The site is still live.
Even today, a year after graduation, Bloom is using what she learned from starting Udwell in her new job as an account executive at Yelp in New York City, according to a story on UD’s UDaily.
“I work with so many businesses that are just starting out,” said Bloom. “When I help them with their business concepts, address the unique value they propose, their customer segments, their channels, I always use what I learned through the Horn program and my experience running Udwell.”
