3 entrepreneurs (and 1 Phillie, kinda) are getting honored at the Millennial Leadership Summit

My team at Millennial Ventures and I are behind Philly’s first Millennial Leadership Summit, happening on April 21, 2017.

Millennial Leadership Philly is a new one-day professional development event aimed at reinvigorating Philadelphia’s emerging leaders. Our goal is to invest in the city’s top millennial talent, while also sending a message that millennials are doing good work within the private, public and entrepreneurial sector.

The event is designed to address two pressing questions impacting the region’s workforce:

• Where do millennials go for mentoring, coaching and professional development?
• Where do business leaders, HR professionals and managers of millennials go to gain insights on how to better develop, engage, and retain their millennial talent?

Last year, my organizational development firm received an influx of requests from companies who needed professional development and employee engagement programs for their millennial employees. We kept hearing the same frustration from company leaders: “We need resources to develop our millennial workforce.” This one-day event is just a start for what we can do to help millennial leaders take their careers to the next level.

Tickets cost $100 – $225.

With the conversation surrounding millennials being so negative, we wanted to take an opportunity to showcase, highlight, and recognize four millennial leaders who exemplify true leadership. This year’s we’re honoring:

• Melissa Alam, founder of Femme and Fortune
• Kate Marlys, founder of Philly PR Girl
• Kenny Johnson, community engagement coordinator at the Philadelphia Phillies

Supporting Philly’s millennial tech leaders was a major focus for this year’s event. We are so blessed to have organizations like Girl Develop It, Tech Women Network and Waterfront Ventures supporting our efforts. We’re also excited to have Yuval Yarden of Philly Startup Leaders as a guest moderator for one of our panels.
