PiperWai is using its massive ‘Shark Tank’ growth spurt to give to charity

The natural deodorant company has raised more than $17,000 for organizations like Philly's own Back On My Feet.

Here’s another Philly startup reporting a growth spurt after appearing on ABC’s “Shark Tank”: PiperWai, the makers of a charcoal-based natural deodorant.

Per Generocity reporter Tony Abraham, the company has seen its revenue rise by 6,000 percent since the television appearance. How? A bunch of distribution deals.

“We’ve expanded our retail presence to 200 independent lifestyle boutiques in the U.S. and Canada, Whole Foods mid-Atlantic and over 3,600 GNC stores nationwide,” the cofounders told Abraham.

It’s not the first time the show helps make a Philly company raise its profile: a heated Shark Tank appearance helped Scholly land lots of national attention and app downloads. Zoom Interiors, which has since departed to Los Angeles, also saw its client base expand following the show’s airing.

And now PiperWai is using that growth to back charity partners like Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Young Entrepreneurs’ Program and Philly’s own Back on My Feet. Over $17,000 have already been raised for partnered charities through a point-of-sale donation program.
