Tim Quirino left Philadelphia two years ago, but the East Coast still has his heart.
Quirino, the Geekadelphia cofounder who now works as a Facebook product designer, was featured in Techies, a photo and interview project to tell the stories of technologists in Silicon Valley who are underrepresented in traditional tech narratives. Think: people of color, trans folk, parents, etc.
In his interview, Quirino talks about his former employer, P’unk Ave, “where I really solidified my connection to the heart of Philadelphia,” and the founding of Geekadelphia. Plus: the fact that in 10 years, he wants to be back on the East Coast.
“I don’t consider myself a Californian,” he says. “As much as I really love the landscape, beauty, and weather I miss being in the company of others like me back East.”
Here’s to that.

It’s also a great time to revisit his exit interview, where he told us the two most important considerations he’d make when deciding whether or not to return to Philadelphia.
