Penn startup Fever Smart wins $10K at Rise of the Rest student pitch competition

The company beat out nine other student startups.

Fever Smart, the wireless thermometer startup founded by Penn undergrads, won $10,000 at Steve Case’s Rise of the Rest student pitch competition. The competition, a warmup act for the $100,000 investment that went to scholarship-finding app Scholly, was sponsored by Blackstone Launchpad. We first covered Fever Smart when it was still called Life Patch.
Nine other student startups pitched. These descriptions were provided by spokesman Anthony Stipa, who helped organize the local tour:

  • C-Crete Technologies: A calcium-silicate-based gas separation technology. (Penn)
  • Loviseier: An anti-counterfeit technology to authenticate medicine. (Penn)
  • Go Smart Track: An edtech company focused on inventory and asset management. (Penn)
  • Tour US: A mobile app connecting tourists with ad-hoc tour guides. (Drexel)
  • Lovoco: Language translation software. (Temple)
  • ME.mory/JumpButton Studios: An app to help combat memory loss. (Temple)
  • Kyle Carb Design: A new, therapeutic form of application for burn victims. (Philadelphia University)
  • Vita Virdi Carbon: Builds machines that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and stores and processes sequestered carbon. (La Salle)
  • LendEDU: An independent marketplace for student loans and student loan refinance. (University of Delaware)
