University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship’s 360VR Technology has another win: On March 26, the team competed in the finals of the 20th annual Tulane Business Model Competition and took the $75,000 grand prize.
The pitch competition, originally planned to be held during New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, was held online this year.
360 VR was one of six ventures to compete in the final round, narrowed down from 100 ventures representing more than 50 colleges and universities from across the nation.
The startup, founded by Sury Gupta and James Massaquoi, uses virtual reality tech to create 3D building maps for emergency first responders. See them go into more detail in DETV’s “Today in Tech” interview:
“360VR Technology identified a need in the marketplace that many of us didn’t realize we could benefit from,” said Laurie Aronson, president and CEO of Lipsey’s, who served as one of this year’s judges, to Tulane’s Freeman News. “I’m always amazed at the technology that is made available for businesses that could positively impact so many people.”
Some of 360VR’s previous wins include $50,000 at the Salisbury University Shore Hatchery Startup Competition, $20,000 at UD’s own Hen Hatch 2019 and a $10,000 engineering award at Big Bang! Business Competition hosted by the University of California, Davis Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
