Delaware showed up for the virtual nonprofit drive DoMore24 Delaware, which ended at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 6, with $389,552 raised in 24 hours for over 300 nonprofits.
One aspect of the event was a friendly competition between participants through which nonprofits could win sponsored bonuses every hour and leaderboards kept track of the action.
Here’s how things went down:
- Family Promise of Northern New Castle County (FPNNCC), a nonprofit supporting families who are at risk for or experiencing homelessness, raised $33,721, putting it at the top of the Overall Leaderboard and exceeding its goal by $3,721. FPNNCC won 10 challenges over the 24-hour period, including the $500 Capital One Home Stretch Power Hour for Large Nonprofits.
- YourMoney101, a financial wellness and mentoring services provider, was at the top of the small nonprofits leaderboard, and placed #2 on the overall leaderboard with $28,696, exceeding its goal by $3,696. YourMoney101 won two challenges, including the $500 Capital One Home Stretch Power Hour for Small Nonprofits.
- The Barbara K. Brooks Transition House, a sober safe house for women in southern Delaware, received the largest number of individual donations, with 235. The BKB House placed #3 on the overall leaderboard and #2 on the small nonprofit leaderboard with $28,240, which exceeded its goal by $3, 240. It won 12 challenges, including the $500 Capital One Home Stretch Power Hour for Small Nonprofits.
- Wilmington Catholic girls school Ursuline Academy raised $17,225 for technology upgrades, exceeding its goal by $5,225. The school ranked #2 on the large nonprofits leaderboard.
- The Shepherd’s Office, a nonprofit serving “the homeless, hungry and lonely” in Georgetown, raised $15,225, exceeding its goal by $225 thanks to a $500 Capital One Home Stretch Power Hour for Small Nonprofits.
- Delaware Humane Association raised $6,680, exceeding its goal by $680.
- The Ministry of Caring, which runs the Emmanuel Dining Room and offers multiple services for the poor in Wilmington, raised $12,760.
- Combined Campaign for Justice, a nonprofit providing free legal services with a mission to bridge the justice gap in Delaware, raised $12,010.
- United Way of Delaware raised $7,595.
