Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL), a national organization with a localized mission to engage and support small governments, selected Complete Communities Delaware as the winner of the Best #CityHallSelfies Wrap Video award. It beat out the likes of Fontana, California; Rockville, Maryland; and Pensacola, Florida.

City Hall Selfie Day falls on Aug. 15, a hashtag holiday where folks — especially those from small towns — take selfies in from of their favorite local government offices and share them on Twitter, where #CityHallSelfies first trended in 2016.

Complete Communities Delaware, a University of Delaware-based organization that offers an online toolkit for strengthening communities, compiled the state’s #CityHallSelfies tweets and made a video that includes selfies from all over the state, including Dover, Newark, Smyrna, Middletown, Ocean View, Harrington and Blades — which, we learned from the video, was the first town in Delaware to have a woman mayor).

Maybe next time Delaware will win the ELGL’s Knope Award honoring the best parks and open spaces (and yes, that’s Knope as in Leslie Knope of “Parks & Recreation” — seriously).

Complete Communities will receive a trophy and a selfie stick. Check out the winning City Hall Selfie wrap here:
