Last summer, entrepreneurs Charlie Vincent and Robert Herrera founded Wilmington’s first Millennial Summit as a way to engage the region’s young professionals and focus on the city’s economic future. The inaugural event drew 350 attendees from seven states — a success they intend to build on as they bring the event back to the Chase Center on the Riverfront for a second year on Tuesday, Aug. 7.

“Our generation wants to get involved and often we can’t easily connect with those organizations already working on finding sustainable solutions to various problems,” said Herrera, who cofounded and runs The Mill by day. “We built the Millennial Summit on the idea that bringing everyone together under one roof can spark real dialogue and positively spur impact in our community because they can meet new people, hear about exciting new ideas, and get plugged into many great organizations.”

The full-day event will feature three keynote speakers, including:

Other speakers include:

  • Chris Buccini, co-president of Buccini/Pollin Group;
  • Alisa Morkides, owner of Brew Ha Ha! and Brandywine Coffee Roasters;
  • Sarah McBride, national press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign;
  • Cerron Cade, Delaware’s Secretary of Labor;
  • and Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long.

Other cool stuff at #MILLSUMMIT will include a variety of exhibitors, a speed networking lunch called #Nonprofitluau, free business portraits by Foschi, the championship round of a high-school business strategy simulation contest, all followed by a networking happy hour at Constitution Yards featuring musician Grace Otley.

The event will be preceded by a pre-summit panel discussion on balancing personal and professional social media led by Gaby Indellini of the Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau on Monday, Aug. 6 (included in the ticket price, or $20 for the panel only).

Tickets for the #MILLSUMMIT are $99 for young professionals (21-32), $125 for up and coming professionals (33-40) and $150 for seasoned professionals (41+).

Includes breakfast, lunch, coffee, keynotes, break-out sessions and full access to the #MILLSUMMIT app.
