Hit the Sticks didn’t reach its Kickstarter goal of $225,000 last fall. The Devon, Pa.-based indie game studio was raising money to build a game called Mark of the Old Ones.
But that failed campaign wasn’t actually a failure at all, the studio said. Instead, it gave them hope — and context for their next move.
“…if several hundred backers were willing to pledge $28,242 to a concept from an unknown indie team, that it meant that people did see the potential in our ideas,” Hit the Sticks founder Jordan Brock wrote on their new Kickstarter page.
The team launched its second campaign for the Mark of the Old Ones, lowering the ask drastically to $46,000, and is now three-quarters of the way there. The campaign was featured as a staff pick on Kickstarter’s website this weekend.
