Former Gov. Jack Markell will arrive in Rehoboth Beach Tuesday afternoon and ceremoniously dip his bicycle tire into the Atlantic Ocean, ending a vast, two-wheeled journey he started June 18 in Astoria, Ore.

Over the past seven weeks Markell’s trip has taken him more than 3,680 miles and (a surprisingly few) 10 states. The journey has been documented thoroughly on Twitter.
While traveling during the summer is nothing out of the ordinary, Markell’s cross-country adventure was for a cause. He was cycling on behalf of Motivate the First State, in the hope of bringing awareness to the organization’s initiative to improve the state’s health.
