Lauren Spinelli has been working as 1313 Innovation’s Business Development and Marketing Manager for the past year, unapologetically smashing that snooze button as a self-proclaimed night owl.
See, the Kennett Square resident is also the owner of HedgeApple Antiques — a vintage shop located in historic New Castle. (You should check it out.)
We were able to catch up with Spinelli, between conference calls and business meetings, and learn about her time at 1313 Innovation and the go-to tricks she uses to make it through a hectic workday. (Learn from other Delawareans about their productivity tips here.)

Technical.ly Delaware: What has been your biggest accomplishment so far at 1313 innovation?
Lauren Spinelli: Streamlining overall business operations and fostering valuable partnerships.
TD: What was your last position before coming to 1313 innovation?
LS: While in Boston, I was a corporate events manager in both the finance and technology industries. I developed and managed large-scale conventions, trade shows and incentive trips with national and international destinations. When I returned to the mid-Atlantic, my passion for entrepreneurship, history and design led me to open HedgeApple Antiques, a brick-and-mortar antique shop in New Castle, Del. I am still the owner today and encourage you to visit!
TD: Name the first thing you do in the morning that is not work related.
LS: First thing? I hit the snooze button because I’m a night owl!
TD: How many times a day do you check your email?
LS: 24/7. I live in a multi-inbox world.
TD: What advice would you give someone leading a team with several new members?
LS: Learn to lead with agility.
TD: How do you stay calm during stressful times at work?
LS: I thrive in stressful situations, so I’m usually (or unusually) calm.
TD: What is your go to soundtrack during the workday?
LS: I’m a huge Brandon Flowers fan, so I’ll crank to one of his solo albums.
TD: What tricks do you use to stay organized?
LS: Every night, I prioritize a list of “to-dos” to tackle the next day.
TD: What’s your favorite way to celebrate a big accomplishment with your team?
LS: I like to get everyone out of the office to enjoy some fresh air. I recently arranged a golf lesson for the team and we had a great time!
