You might know how to tweet or post to Facebook, but using social media for yourself is just the tip of the iceberg.
Cue Delaware Technical Community College’s fifth annual Social Media Conference.
According to the college’s project coordinator Jami Jackson, the conference will be aimed at addressing the social media needs of small businesses, nonprofits, big businesses and anyone in between. The event, held at the Georgetown Campus, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 16 and will feature keynote speaker Ethan Holland.

Holland, the former senior director of marketing at American Eagle and the current director of digital media at WBOC TV, will discuss his experience in using social media to “expand a brand’s reach and engage in active relationship marketing.” For Holland, platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are an integral part of any successful marketing campaign.
The event also includes three breakout sessions where local Delmarva social media experts like Brooke Miles of Delaware ShoutOut and Tom Little of La Vida Hospitality will discuss a variety of topics spanning from “intermediate Twitter” to how to use Snapchat to interact with your customers.
More than 20 speakers will present over the course of the day, including marketing and social media leaders from Jack Lingo, Gals That Give, Schell Brothers, Elevee Events, Hoy! en Delaware and DMV.
As Jackson succinctly put it, “social media is everywhere.” The Del Tech Social Media Conference should prove to be a useful event for anyone hoping to harness its power.
