How do you create compelling stories in a medium that’s still being figured out? That’s the gift and the challenge of virtual reality in 2016.
The Made in NY Media Center is bringing in four of the leading filmmakers working in VR next Wednesday night for a discussion of each of their works in a talk called Sundance Breakouts: Four VR Case Studies.
- Milica Zec is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and collaborator with artist Marina Abramovic. Her film, Giant, premiered at Sundance New Frontiers 2016.
- Ben Dickinson recently collaborated with artist/comedian/bandleader Reggie Watts on the VR film Waves.
- Rose Troche is the director of the TV series The L Word, and has been working in VR since 2013. Her newest project is called Perspective 2: The Misdemeanor.
- Jamie Pallot is the cofounder of the Emblematic Group, a VR-based news and nonfiction publisher. He was previously a contributing editor at Vanity Fair.
The event will take place Wednesday, March 2 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Made in NY Media Center. Tickets are $25.
