An underused state-run jobs site is about to get some new life.

Four major regional employers have pledged to use Philadelphia Works, a hiring site that’s free to use, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The site had previously come under fire in a January 2012 Pew report that found that only 12 percent of the city’s employers were using the system. Critics cited “poor screening of job candidates and uncoordinated or unreliable service,” according to the Inquirer.

This move suggests that the system has improved, but it’s not clear if that’s what prompted the four companies to pledge to use the site.
