Local coding bootcamp lands $2.5M donation

Philanthropist Mackenzie Scott and her charitable fund Yield Giving donated $2.5 million to Resilient Coders. This donation will expand technical training, program offerings, job placement strategies and staff. The organization hopes to add more coding languages to its courses and provide students with greater assistance for building their networks.

The donation comes at the same time that Resilient Coders is finalizing its three-year strategic plan. It includes programming updates to keep up with the changing tech job market, executive director Ayanna Lott-Pollard said.

This robotics pro started as an intern

Andrew Capodieci started as an intern for off-road robotics company Neya Systems in Allegheny County, and he just never left. After rising through the ranks for 10 years, he is now the director of robotics.

He stayed for that long because of the opportunities to move forward in his career in a short amount of time, Capodieci said. His advice for aspiring technologists? Maintain work-life balance and play to your strengths.
