How 1PHL will continue to drive tech equity

For the first time, 1Philadelphia joined Technical.ly as a co-producer of Philly Tech Week, hosting networking and resources-oriented events. It’s a part of what they already do, and leading PTW only furthers its mission campaigning for a more equitable approach to tech, said Danae Mobley.

Mobley joined me on Technical.ly Speaking, a monthly segment on WURD Radio’s “Reality Check,” hosted by Tonya Pendleton. She discussed 1PHL’s mission to get more people interested in tech and why its important to include people of color in the conversation.

This MLB legend is supporting STEM education

The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation launched a STEM initiative in 2016. So far, it has built over 525 fully operational, turnkey STEM centers in 23 states and 22 district-wide public school systems, impacting over 211,000 kids.

Philadelphia is one of the cities that the foundation hopes to build more STEM Centers in the future, Cal Ripken Jr. said. The centers are designed for youth organizations and schools to get students interested in STEM through hands-on learning.
