How Greater Philly EDA Tech Hub will use $80 million
The Greater Philadelphia Region Precision Medicine Tech Hub — comprising Philly/Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and South Jersey — was selected as a Tech Hub by the US Economic Development Administration last fall, making it eligible to apply for grants from an available $541 million.
The Tech Hub’s proposal requested a total budget of $80 million over five years, and has so far received $9 million in matching funds, including $1 million designated for Delaware. What does the consortium propose to do with the funds? Check out Sarah’s reporting for details.

Out of DC: Smart Signs are now in use
If you’re driving in DC and see a mobile street sign telling you to put down your phone, it might be a smart sign that can detect whether you’re using your phone, are wearing your seatbelt or are driving over the speed limit. If a sign catches you, you won’t get a ticket (at least at this point), but the DC DoT hopes that the messages will get distracted, unsafe drivers to modify their behavior.
We haven’t seen these signs in Delaware, but if they’re effective, it may be a matter of time.
