The Fusion Center consolidates emergency response data and technology into one place. According to the report, the center will also take advantage of “local facilities’ live camera feeds” to make communications between public safety workers.
New Castle County Councilman and Public Safety Commision co-chair Bill Bell (for whom the facility is named) emphasized the importance of municipalities adapting to new technology trends and developments, saying, “We’ve got to always be on the cutting edge, we’ve got to be mindful how important, how significant it is to be able to interconnect, inter-operate, share information.”
The Fusion Center is housed within the Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Operations Center.
