After acquiring a DC-area company, Qualtrics just opened a new office in Reston

Two years after it acquired Reston, Virginia AI analytics company Clarabridge, Qualtrics is cementing its presence in the DC area through a new physical footprint.

Qualtrics, an experience management company with co-headquarters in Provo, Utah and Seattle, Washington, just opened a new office space in Reston. The 52,266 square-foot space at Reston Station will be the company’s AI innovation and public sector hub.

The office has two floors for employees, with 223 desks and 21 conference and meeting rooms. It also boasts seven open spaces for employee collaboration, an outdoor terrace, a game room, a library, a cafeteria and an 80-person “beverage bar.” Plus, the new office features a wellness center with a mother’s room, lounge and prayer room.

Qualtrics has over 5,000 employees in total and had a small office in the DMV for sales and services prior to the Clarabridge acquisition. The investment in DC, the company said, comes from growing partnerships with businesses in the area and government. Over 600 state, provincial and local government organizations use the technology, as do 170 federal offices.

“Our expansion in Reston marks a significant milestone in Qualtrics’ growth and commitment to innovation, particularly artificial intelligence and machine learning,” said Zig Serafin, CEO of Qualtrics, in a written statement. “Strategically positioned in one of the US’s key tech corridors, our new Reston office will enable us to harness top local talent, as we continue to elevate critical experiences in the public sector and beyond.”

With the Clarabridge technology, Qualtrics intended to build a communications platform with technology from both companies for customer and employee reviews. In 2021, it declined to tell Technical.ly what the acquisition would mean for its local presence. With its newly expanded office, Qualtrics said it wants to aid more government customers with building experiences and technology that can boost public trust and community engagement.

“The opening of Qualtrics’ world-class East Coast office reinforces that Virginia’s tech sector is booming,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin, who attended a grand opening of the new space, in a written statement. “This new hub in Reston Station will allow Qualtrics to continue to capitalize on the Commonwealth’s pipeline of top talent.”
