Ever stroll around D.C.’s storied streets wondering when you’ll be able to afford one of those splendid mansions? Now, you can tap your watch to find out.
Homesnap, the mobile app that allows users to find out about surrounding real estate deals after snapping a photo, is launching a free Android Wear version today.
The app will attract prospective home buyers, said Lou Mintzer, the company’s senior vice president of product development. “A lot of times,” he said, “you’re not really aware of how expensive the houses are.”
Mintzer anticipates it will be popular among realtors, too. “These people are thinking and living and breathing real estate all the time,” he said.
Mintzer got his hands on a  smartwatch during the summer Google I/O meeting that unveiled Android Wear. Soon enough, Homesnap’s product development team in Bethesda “just started plucking around,” he said, creating the Android wear app on what began as a whim.
The company is currently expanding, driven by the success of Homesnap Pro, an app used by over 75,000 real estate agents across the country, Mintzer said.
Homesnap has raised more than $8.75 million in funding and counts D.C.’s own Steve Case among its main investors.
