Armed with a $25,000 grant from Bank of America, Tech Council of Delaware is advancing one of its core goals — to build and expand inclusive tech talent pipelines.
In September, the organization will launch the American Dream Academy. This six-month training program will include 14 technology certificate courses from companies such as Google, IBM and Salesforce via Coursera, as well as soft skills courses. Programming will be virtual and self paced.
The scholarship program is for adults aged 18 to 24 living in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties who earn less than $40,000 annually and have a high school diploma or GED. Emphasis will be placed on people living in underserved communities.
The grant covers 100 students. Those interested in applying can attend one of three information sessions:
- Kent County, July 14 at 12 p.m. — Milford Public Library
- Sussex County, July 21 at 1 p.m. — Georgetown Public Library
- New Castle County, July 27 at 1 p.m. — Wilmington Public Library
The application link will be available on the Tech Council’s website starting July 10. The last date to to apply will be Aug. 11.
