RP Professional Services, Pie Insurance and more DC companies landed on the Inc 5000 list

Overall, 291 companies from the DMV made it onto the list — a steady decline from the previous two years, but still a sizeable representation.

For local companies eager to see how their growth stacks up against their peers, the results are in: Today, Inc. Magazine released its annual Inc. 5000 list, measuring the fastest-growing private companies in the US.

291 DC-area companies made it onto this year’s list. It’s a bit of a downgrade from the past few years’ rosters, which listed 330 companies in 2021 and 462 in 2020. Companies need to report three-year revenue growth in order to qualify.

To make matters a little more complicated, the two top regional companies aren’t actually in the DC metro area, but rather the extended Baltimore, Maryland-to-Richmond, Virginia corridor. Summit Human Capital, a Richmond-based IT and human relations company, led the local charge at #20 (the company also ranked #1 on the Mid-Atlantic list released earlier this year, citing 3,677% growth in the past two years). Boosted by a $100 million Series C in January, Baltimore’s Facet Wealth was the next on the list at #46.

In the actual DMV, RP Professional Services placed highest at #74, with 5,300% growth. The Ashburn, Virginia-based government services firm was followed by Integrated Management Strategies of Alexandria, Virginia, which placed at #76 and reported 5,271% growth.

The DC metro’s top company in last year’s listings, digital marketing firm Olympic Media (which came in at #13, citing 20,330% growth), didn’t make it onto this year’s list at all. Fairfax, Virginia- and Rockville, Maryland-based Behavioral Framework, last year’s runner-up at #46, came in at #1,468.

Other 2022 standouts included Fairfax gifting company Bonnie & Pop (#105), which grew 4,141%, and DC fintech company Ordway (#237), which grew 2,229% over the last few years. Rockville, Maryland’s 20/20 Gene Systems also made an appearance at #131, citing 3,512% growth (last year, the company began trading shares on the StartEngine Secondary crowdfunding platform, raising over $10 million). Other familiar DC faces like Pie Insurance (#163, 3,139% growth), Upside Services (#308, 1,858% growth), Adlumin (#569, 1,113% growth) and Arlo Solutions (#583, 1.088% growth), also made the cut.

Here are 10 other local companies featured on the list:
