Among the high rents and costly talent of a New York tech community, Chris Riegger says he’s proud of being part of bootstrapping email marketing firm Mad Mimi.
The vice president for digital partnerships said the startup has surpassed 150,000 users relying mostly on word of mouth and grown to 30 employees.
Although founded in Brooklyn (though it lists a Manhattan address as its headquarters), just six call Kings County home. Instead, they’ve hired talent from around the world, from Hawaii to Taiwan.
But how to battle email marketing giants like MailChimp and Constant Contact? Reigger says Mad Mimi is aiming for earlier stage small businesses, particularly those without tech savvy staff.
