D.C. fintech startup Savi Solutions launched a Student Loan Voter Campaign last week in partnership with Student Debt Crisis and Rise with some support from the Biden for President campaign.
Three-year-old Savi was founded by student loan experts and advocates Tobin Van Ostern and Aaron Smith. The company developed a platform that uses a proprietary tech to identify better student loan repayment and forgiveness options for borrowers. It closed a $6 million Series A back in April.
The Student Loan Voter Campaign offers struggling borrowers free assistance to navigate their debt or payments, including access to a free online student loan help tool, a student loan hotline and information on how to vote and make their voices heard.

“Savi is proud to help power this critical campaign raising the voices of the millions of voters passionate about the crisis of student loan debt,” said Savi cofounder Aaron Smith in a statement. “With the importance of this election, we’re excited to step up to the plate and offer our leading student loan repayment technology for free to any voters through election day.”
Student loan debt affects roughly 46 million Americans of various age ranges. Biden has been promoting major plans for student loan forgiveness as part of his presidential campaign, including forgiving student loans for borrowers with annual incomes under $125,000 after earning undergraduate degrees from public colleges, universities or HBCUs.
The organizations aligned with the campaign are also hosting student loan voter events and volunteering at virtual phone banks calling voters to highlight Biden’s plans on student loan debt relief. Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang, and advocate on behalf of Biden, headlined the first event which included a town hall. The next virtual event is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m., and will be headlined by actress and political activist Alyssa Milano.
Savi did not immediately respond to a request for comment about publicly aligning with a presidential campaign.
