On the latest episode of Technical.ly DC Diaries, I had the pleasure of interviewing Meghan Gaffney Buck, cofounder and CEO of VEDA Data Solutions.

Gaffney Buck, who was featured on our inaugural RealLIST Connectors, is no stranger to the #dctech startup community. A few years back, she won the grand prize at Vinetta Project’s final Venture Challenge, and her tech company has seen big success since: VEDA, which runs a platform that uses AI and machine learning to increase accuracy of healthcare directories, has raised $13.5 million in venture capital this year alone, including a $5 million Series A.

To refresh: This new video series features interviews with local founders, technologists and startup leaders. The conversations are hosted by me, Technical.ly DC Market Editor Michelai Graham, and explore various topics including how these folks got their start in technology or entrepreneurship and what keeps them going. Check out more episodes here.

In this interview, Gaffney Buck talks handling distance learning with her kids, expanding early entrepreneurship opportunities to students in the District, kayaking, learning how to play the guitar, and much more.

“Balance is kind of an overstatement,” she said about managing work and life. “It’s sort of like teetering on the edge of a roller coaster.”

And oh, she mentioned VEDA is hiring — check out its open positions. Tune into our full interview below.
