Delaware now has two medical cannabis dispensaries, with the recent opening of a Columbia Care dispensary on Concord Pike near Brandywine Town Center, Delaware Business Now reports.
Columbia Care, a publicly traded cannabis corporation, opened its first Delaware location — including a grow site — in Smyrna in 2018.
In Delaware, a medical marijuana card is required to purchase THC. A short list of qaualifying medical conditions include cancer, HIV/AIDS, ALS, epilepsy and PTSD.
Legislation to legalize THC, including amendments to the Delaware Marijuana Control Act (HB 110), for non-medical purposes is pending action in the House Appropriations Committee in 2020. Such legislation would regulate and tax marijuana, allowing adults 21 and over to purchase up to an ounce of THC like alcohol.
The dispensary carries THC in several forms, including bud, tincture, capsules and vape oil; it also carries CBD products, which are legal in all 50 states after the passage of the 2018 Federal Farm Bill.
Delaware’s hemp-growing industry is growing since the Farm Bill, with CBD oil processing and growing startups pooping up in Kent and Sussex counties, including EDGE Grant recipient EZY Venture.
