TekDry is coming to Delaware to dry out your wet phones

The Denver-based startup has a process that fixes wet phones in 20 minutes. The company is opening outposts in three local Staples later this month.

What do you do when you get your phone wet? Dunk it in some dry rice and let it sit for a couple days? Maybe put it out in the sun and let the moisture evaporate?
TekDry wants to change that, and they have the technology to do it.

The Denver-based startup allegedly allows devices to retain all of their data if the phone is rescued in time. And if not? Full refund. But the startup has humble beginnings — the cofounders met in school while pursuing their MBAs from the University of Denver. They managed to get a few of those first machines (built by hand) in some local repair shops.
The startup’s marketing manager Natalie Dunn says the process takes 20 minutes to dry out a device whereas other processes (i.e. rice and sun) might take a few days and aren’t as effective.
Now, after sealing up a patent at the end of last year and raking in seed funding, the startup is launching in 82 Staples stores across the country. Three of those locations are in Delaware:

  • 3640 Concord Pike, Wilmington
  • 3200 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington
  • 128 Sunset Boulevard, New Castle
