FastFWD: city’s 12-week social enterprise accelerator will focus on public safety

Backed by a $1 million grant from the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge, the 12-week accelerator, called FastFWD, will award each participant $10,000. Upon graduation, the entrepreneurs will be able to apply to pilot their program in the city, according to FastFWD's website.

The City of Philadelphia is on the brink of launching its new social enterprise accelerator, which will seek out 10 entrepreneurs focused on innovating around public safety issues, program co-director Story Bellows announced at the annual Code for America Summit last week.

Backed by a $1 million grant from the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge, the 12-week accelerator, called FastFWD, will award each participant $10,000. Upon graduation, the entrepreneurs will be able to apply to pilot their program in the city, according to FastFWD’s website.

FastFWD is a partnership between the Wharton Social Impact Initiative, GoodCompany Group and the City of Philadelphia.
