Greenphire, a King of Prussia-based clinical trial payment technology company, is setting its sights on Europe. It’s opening an office in England this year in order to focus on the European market.

Founded in 2007, Greenphire provides technology that automates payments for companies that run clinical trials, from smaller trials to global-scale ones. It raised $4.3 million this fall, as we reported, following a $1.5 million series A round in fall 2011 led by New York City-based First Mark Capital.

The company’s been growing, too: it more than doubled its staff last year, from 17 to more than 40 staffers.

Greenphire was founded by John “JP” Samar and husband-and-wife pair Samuel Whitaker and Jennifer Peters. Peters and Whitaker, a Penn grad, live in Phoenixville, while Samar, a Lehigh University grad, lives in King of Prussia. They are all in their thirties, according to a spokeswoman.
