The city is using stimulus money to create The Greenworks Pilot Energy Technology Program, a new accelerator fund designed to house green startups. The companies will be vetted by Ben Franklin Technology Partners and the grants will range from $50,000 to $150,000. The deadline to apply for the funds is July 31st.

MIGHT BE WORTH YOUR TIME
Comcast Interactive Capital is among the firms that has invested $4 million in Virginia-based EdgeConneX. The company provides wireless infrastructure though it can’t be bothered to update its website past the CMS Made Simple splash page.
Guggenheim Venture Partners (profiled in this month’s Philly Mag) have invested $3 million in SaaS vendor Conformity Inc.
GIVE A GLANCE
The Science Center CEO Stephen Tang penned an editorial for Business Week outlining how universities can be more entrepreneurial. In the piece Tang touts the UCSC’s QED method that is “intended to bridge the funding gap, popularly known as the ‘Valley of Death,’ between research grants and private investment while advocating proof-of-concept development projects within the life sciences.”
